10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Working with the Feeding America network, Protein PACT attendees are invited to stuff protein packs for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. We need your urgent support! Member companies are invited to contribute 2,000 units of several different shelf-stable protein products (multiple and single serving units) to complete the 2,000 protein packs. If you do not produce shelf-stable products and monetary contributions are welcomed as we will apply it towards food. To donate, reach out to us at events@meatinstitute.org.

In this brief but powerful opening, emcee Sarah Bohnenkamp will kick off the Protein PACT Solutions Summit by focusing on what unites us: a commitment to people—those who raise, process, consume, and are nourished by animal protein.

You’ll get a quick look at the Protein PACT’s five pillars—Animal Welfare, Environment, Food Safety, Nutrition, and People & Communities—and how they shape the conversations and solutions ahead.

Come ready to connect, contribute, and explore how our collective efforts can turn principles into progress—and progress into impact.

In today’s food debates, outrage spreads faster than understanding. And few sectors feel it more than livestock. From the future of meat to gene editing to ultra-processed foods, nearly every innovation is a potential flashpoint. But the challenge isn’t just the science—it’s the story.

In this provocative and fast-paced keynote, Jack Bobo—food futurist and former U.S. food policy negotiator—explores how the future of protein will be shaped not only by what we produce, but by how we talk about it.

Drawing on behavioral science and two decades at the intersection of agriculture, innovation, and public perception, he reveals why facts alone don’t change minds, why polarization is predictable, and why narrative—not noise—is the most powerful tool for progress.

In the age of outrage, it’s not the loudest voice that wins—it’s the one that brings people together. And, if we get the story right, agriculture won’t just feed the world—it might just save it.

Animal-source foods like meat and dairy play a vital role in nutrition and sustainable food systems—and they're also central to global environmental discussions. This session explores how the Protein PACT is bringing the animal protein sector together to build trust, foster transparency, and engage diverse audiences.

In a panel moderated by Eric Mittenthal (Meat Institute), leaders from pork, beef, academia, and innovation will share their sustainability work and experiences at global forums like COP and Climate Week. Attendees will then join small-group discussions using a “New, Knew, Know, Now” framework to reflect and apply insights.

This session offers a unique look at how collaboration, communication, and commitment through the Protein PACT are shaping the future of responsible animal protein.

Let’s talk about meat—what it means for health, how it’s talked about in dietary guidelines, and why there’s so much debate about its role on the plate.
In this lively session, two respected voices will share very different perspectives on animal protein:
•    Dr. Anthony Chaffee, a U.S.-trained medical doctor currently practicing in Australia, who has spent more than two decades researching optimal human nutrition. Dr. Chaffee advocates for a species-specific diet centered on animal products, asserting that many modern chronic diseases are the result of what people eat—or don’t eat—and can be reversed through radical dietary change. He offers a provocative critique of mainstream nutrition science through the lens of evolutionary biology and clinical experience.
•    Dr. Dustin Moore, a public health expert and researcher whose work focuses on evidence-based nutrition, chronic disease prevention, and improving how we communicate science in today’s complex information landscape. With a PhD in Public Health from UC Irvine and over a decade of experience advancing nutrition education, Dr. Moore brings a balanced, prevention-oriented perspective grounded in both academia and public health practice.
Before the discussion begins, we’ll kick things off with a quick look at current consumer trends around meat and nutrition—what people are buying, eating, and asking for—presented by Melissa Rodriguez from Circana.
This session is about bringing everyone to the table—science, experience, and curiosity welcome. Join us for a respectful, thought-provoking conversation.
