Speaker Bio
Paxton Sullivan is a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at Colorado State University in the Department of Animal Sciences. Shortly after completing her undergraduate degree at Colorado State University in 2021 with a B.S. in Animal Science, Paxton started her master’s degree program in Livestock Behavior and Welfare under the guidance of Dr. Lily Edwards-Callaway.

Paxton’s research focuses on the impact of the pre-slaughter management phase (i.e., loadout from the feedlot to stunning at the plant) on fed beef cattle welfare and meat quality outcomes. Her other research interests include teaching and learning in the animal sciences, specifically - the effect of different teaching practices on student learning, motivation, and engagement in the classroom. After completing her master’s degree this summer, Paxton will continue in the Edwards-Callaway lab as a Ph.D. student. Her overarching career goals include improving the welfare of food animals at the end of the supply chain and continuing to foster a love and appreciation for animal agriculture in students.
