Emma Hamilton is an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls (UWRF) where
she is studying Animal Science with a Meat Animal emphasis. She works as an undergraduate research
assistant in the Animal Welfare Lab at UWRF, where she has assisted with projects focusing on captive
bolt euthanasia and stunning for swine and cattle. Emma’s current research is focused on evaluating
differences in head morphology between immunocastrated boars and physically castrated market
barrows. Additionally, Emma is a member of the UWRF Animal Welfare Judging Team and competed at
the AVMA’s Animal Welfare Assessment Contest in 2022.
