Victoria Merenda is a 3rd year PhD student at North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in Dr. Pairis-Garcia's lab. During her PhD, she had the opportunity to work with various topics related to animal welfare including pain mitigation in swine and timely euthanasia in dairy cows.
Victoria received her DVM at UNESP-Botucatu, in Brazil, and completed her Master of Science in Large Animal Clinical Sciences at University of Florida. During her Masters, her research focused on treating metritis in dairy cows with two different antibiotics and testing the drugs’ impact on cows’ production, reproduction, health and behavior.
Her current PhD project aims to refine sample size calculations used by the CSIA swine audit.
