Matt Fischer is a senior Program Manager at the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Institute, one of 9 DoD-funded national manufacturing institutes, a role he has held since beginning at ARM in 2018. In this position he is responsible for managing a multimillion-dollar portfolio of ARM-sponsored projects and initiatives from beginning to end to include drafting requirements, reviewing proposals, managing projects and budgets, and transitioning projects. Matt has over 11 years of exposure working in mechanical, electrical, and controls & automation heavy fields where he has gained experience in rotating equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, energy generation, fluid processing and control, and electrical distribution among many other engineering fields. Prior to his time at ARM, Matt worked as a Reliability and Maintenance Engineer supporting industrial operations, manufacturing, and maintenance businesses. These companies included an underground mining equipment OEM and an oil and gas producer processing petroleum on an offshore tension leg platform in the Gulf of Mexico. Matt also served as a submarine officer aboard the nuclear-powered submarine USS HARTFORD SSN 768 from 2010-2013. He graduated with a BS in Ocean Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, which he attended after receiving an appointment from his home state of West Virginia.
