Ron Toran serves as the Director of Diversity, Culture, & Engagement at Smithfield Foods, headquartered in Smithfield, Virginia. In this role, he spearheads diversity, equity, & inclusion efforts alongside employee experience and engagement initiatives for the company's U.S. workforce.

With a commitment to fostering inclusivity and belonging, Ron focuses on implementing strategic programs to drive greater diversity and support for underrepresented talent. Drawing on his extensive background in talent management and development, he brings a passion for nurturing individuals from all backgrounds and expanding opportunities for marginalized communities.

Before joining Smithfield in 2021, Ron held key positions at notable corporations including Capital One, Dollar Tree, The Port of Virginia, and Anthem. Most recently, he served as Global Director of DE&I, Talent Management, and Leadership Development at SYKES (Foundever) Enterprises. Additionally, Ron brings eight years of experience in the U.S. Armed Forces as a veteran of the Army National Guard.

Ron's contributions have earned him recognition as a 2020 AACCS Distinguished Honoree and as a DEI Champion by the National Diversity Council in both 2021 and 2023. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University where his studied Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources, complemented by numerous certifications in human resources management, leadership development, employee engagement, and diversity & inclusion.

Residing in Carrollton, Virginia, with his family, Ron actively engages in civic advocacy, utilizing his professional expertise to provide coaching, mentoring, and career consulting to individuals in underrepresented and marginalized communities.
