Rosaida (Rose) Cerpa is the Plant Safety Manager for the Tar Heel Distribution Center located in North Carolina. During her tenure with Smithfield, she has held several positions within the organization ranging from an hourly production employee to Safety manager. She has worked in different Smithfield locations like the world largest hog slaughterhouse plant located in Tar Heel, NC with a workforce of approximately 5,000 employees and Clinton Processing Plant with around 2,000 employees.

Rose has 19 years of experience in the environmental and safety industry. She worked for 9 years as EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) and Project Manager for the construction industry where she assisted public and private developers to obtain their permits from US Corps of Engineers, Natural Resource Conservation, Fish and Wildlife Services, among other State and Federal agencies. She also developed and monitored wetland construction or restoration areas as part of the mitigation of impacts to our natural resources. For the last 10 years she works for the general industry where she oversees the security, training, workers compensation and safety for Smithfield workers. Rose possesses a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Technical Science and a master’s degree in Environmental Management with a concentration in Risk Assessment and Management.
